CMC Big Band Lead Trumpet/Music Director
Mark Olen is the lead trumpet player with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble, considered by many to be one of the finest in the world. Mark has an uncanny ability to communicate the intention and poetry behind the notes on the page. In addition to playing on numerous TV and Radio commercials, Mark has appeared on the Late Show, and performed with the Woody Herman, Jimmy Dorsey, and the Harry James Big Bands.
Mark has performed with the American Jazz Philharmonic, Ken Arlen Orchestra, Ralph Carmichael Band, Chicago Bear Band, Chicago Brass Quintet, Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Chicago Jazz Ensemble, Chicago Jazz Fest.1991, 92, 2002 & 06, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Da Cornetto Opera, Elgin Symphony, Fairmont Hotel-Lead Trpt., Fine Arts Symphony, Grant Park Orchestra, Green Bay Packer Band, Jazz Members Big Band, Dick Judson Orchestra, New Colony Six, 911 Mambo Orchestra, Niles Symphony, Mark Olen Brazilian Jazz Orchestra, Orchestra of the Americas, Bill Porter Orchestra, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Byron Stripling, and The Ron DeVillers Big Band.
